Great shoe but heal slips a little
"Bought these shoes for shorter day hikes in our foothills. They are light weight and offer good traction. I also use them when riding my mountain bike because I like the extra support under the foot on the pedals these provide over regular tennis shoes. We rode our bikes through some rain and my feet stayed dry. The only thing I noticed about these shoes is that they are a little too big in the heal and slip slightly, even when wearing liner socks under my regular hiking socks. I have a pair of Targhee IIIs and Targhee IVs. Those shoes don't slip. Unfortunately, these Targhee Apex shoes are a bit off in the fit. I can't go down a size because I need the wide toebox for my bunions. I added some heal grip inserts and those worked for bike riding. I haven't had a chance to try them out on the hiking trails yet. But if they don't work out there, they will at least be a good shoe for bike rides."
