Reviews

Overall good.

"This is the second pair I’ve owned. The first are over 10 years old and I had a hard time deciding to replace them. The new ones so far seem almost as good. I had forgot about the issues with the end of the laces coming off but some shoe goo and hopefully that is taken care of. The insert which is the reason I got these is not real good and I will have to find something better soon. So far the read of the shoe is exactly what I thought they would be."

Great Sandal and good design

"Like this design (Arroyo). Feels comfortable wearing it now for about two weeks although I felt not the same at the beginning. Now, I would like to see different shapes of the same design (e. g. , leather as in Targhee III). I think Arroyo's design would work well with leather finish."

Fit - Rolled Ankle

"They get a 2-star because they’re Keens. I have owned Keen sandals (Newports or similar) for the last ~10 years. I have a big size (15) and the shoes fit well. My beef with the current sandals is there is absolutely no traction which has caused many slip and falls during hikes. Several injuries have occurred due to these slip and falls with my current sandals (Keens) so I went looking for footgear with more tread. I came across the Arroyo on Amazon and bought them. When I got them, I tried them out for a day and rolled my ankle walking around the house due to the little support they provide. My heel also kept pulling out of the sandal, even when adjusted more tightly. I’m disappointed because Keen has the closed toes front I love, but don’t provide a good, true hiking shoe. I also wear my sandals year round and live in Wisconsin. My current Keen sandals, the ones I’ve fallen in several times make me slip quite a bit in the slush and snow. I have a big shoe size. I get it. I just want a comfortable, new age design, and affordable sandal. Sadly this one disappoints. If it got like my current sandals with the bottoms of these, I’m sold."

Good, but needs better ankle support

"Looks like the glue problems have been addressed. The laces have been shortened, which is good, as on the older model they were way too long and flapped around making annoying sound. However, compared to the previous model, the foot sits higher in this shoe. I feel like the ankle support is no longer adequate. Even with the laces pulled tight, the foot feels a bit loose in the shoe."

Very pleased!

"While I usually wear Newports, this style change has been fantastic! The enclosed heel and stiffer sole make for better hiking while still being completely waterproof. Additionally, these have an insole that I can replace with my orthotics. The style is timeless too!"

The sandals have an insole that other models in th

"These are my fourth pair of Keen sandals, and the quality is much worse than my previous ones. Mainly because they have an insole that becomes slippery when wet, even though the sandals are water-resistant. My previous sandals didn’t have an insole. If these were my first pair of Keen sandals, I wouldn’t buy Keen again."

Short shoelaces

"Husband has had about 5 pairs over the years. Always geeat til now. Shrinkflation has hit Shoelaces are so short we had to buy new ones. Keen doesnt provide them either. Cant imagine how mich $ they saved"

Less Durable Than Expected

"Three months in, and the rubber tread is tearing away from the foam midsole in several places. Easy to walk out of with moderate drive and stride. The fit is absolutely fantastic for wide feet and average arches; these are comfortable all day long. Simply not holding up to moderate scrambling on hillsides and urban terrain, the kind of thing that makes up a light afternoon."

Q&A

Need a wide toe box. Usually take a 2EE in shoe width. Left foot a true 9 1/2size; right foot a 9. Is toe box on the wide side? What size would you recommend?
This style is available in a D width. You may want to try a size 10 to see if it provides a better fit for your needs.
Are the insoles replaceable? If so, which ones are in these sandals?
Yes, we recommend the outdoor K-20 for this style, but it all depends on personal preference.
Can the leather on these withstand being submerged for long periods, as for wading while fishing? Or do you recommend a fully synthetic upper?
We do not recommend submerging these in water fro long periods of time.
Are these sized to wear with socks?
you should be able to wear these with normal socks.
does this shoe have a high arch? my feet are flat. Could cause problems
This style has medium arch support.
