We all know the famous line from Oliver 'food glorious food' – but instead what about 'shoes glorious shoes'. We often pay little attention to the wondrous invention that protects our feet against the harshness of the freezing cold or the scalding hot pavements of summer. Yet shoes are just as important as any other garment that we choose to clothe ourselves in.
The very first shoes that are catalogued in the historical archive are leather sandals. Today we have different shoes for both genders and for all conceivable occasions. From athletic shoes that make us able to run faster and longer, to high heel stilettos – remarkably uncomfortable and yet no less popular, there are shoes to meet every need.
There are also smart leather shoes for the corporate world, in a range of colours to match even lapel badges. Whether your preferred style is black leather loafers, or tan brown lace-ups, shoes for the professional are just as varied and elegant as any woman's shoe department. Well perhaps not quite.
Women are notorious for their love of fashion in general, and shoes in particular. But in reality there are many men who take just as much pride in their footwear as women.
Dressing for your mood, or your profession is not limited to the jacket you choose to wear or the dress you put on – it extends to the glorious coverings you choose to put on your feet. So experiment and have some fun with your footwear.
